At the time of the founding of Glendronach (Speyside) in 1826, there were many distilleries who were maturing their malts in sherry casks. Due to the increasing prices of quality sherry casks (about 10 times more expensive than standard casks), many distilleries started to make less and less use of these types of casks. Glendronach is together with Glengoyne, currently the only one, where the malt whisky is fully matured in sherry casks. Naturally they are very proud of this! After 12 years, the Allardice is “finished” on American oak to “marry” the sherry notes with the creamy vanilla notes of American oak.
Glendronach 18 Year Allardice is a Single Malt in tribute to the founder of Glendronach, matured 100% in rare and precious Oloroso sherry casks. A nonchill filtered whiskey with a beautiful deep color and a rich, full flavor that many whisky enthusiasts have come to appreciate.
